The Organizers of MACAS3, Astrid Beckmann, Claus Michelsen, Bharath Sriraman, Viktor Freiman, & Nicole Lirette-Pitre, are pleased to announce that the 3rd Symposium will take place in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada from May, 21-23, 2009. It will be hosted by Viktor Freiman and Nicole Lirette-Pitre at the Université de Moncton, Campus de Moncton.

The Symposium will pursue the initiatives that arose from the collaborative work of the Topic Study Group 21 participants of the ICME-10 Congress. The first two Symposiums held by Astrid Beckmann in 2005 in Schwäbisch Gmünd (Germany) and in 2007 held by Claus Michelsen in Odense (Denmark) brought together researchers interested in connections between mathematics, the arts and sciences. These two events allowed participants engaged in interdisciplinary work to start working together on the collaborative research agenda. While the first contacts have been established between researchers and a shared vision of the benefits that can bring unifying the arts, the sciences and mathematics has been discussed, there is still a need of exchanging on research data and constructing of common conceptual frameworks under which researchers can pursue and consolidate their collaborative work.

The Symposium will be part of the conference SMArts (Linking Sciences, Mathematics and Arts) organised conjointly with Crystal Atlantique, ACASE and MACAS.
